Food safety and traceability are currently at the forefront of both government
and industry discussions around the world. Numerous initiatives designed to introduce
various forms of tracking and tracing functionalities in food supply chain are underway.
The introduction of EAN•UCC system is a solution for this problem. But the main
disadvantage of EAN•UCC system is the fact that barcodes are carriers of data. By using
RFID tags some of barcodes disadvantages were eliminated and also new facilities are
available.This paper presents a way for tracing agriculture, food and beverage products by
using RFID tags and their advantages.
